The 49ers–Rams rivalry is a National Football League (NFL) rivalry between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. The rivalry began in 1950 and became one of the most intense in the NFL in the 1970s as the two California based teams regularly competed for the NFC West Division title.
