Agave america var. franzosini is an evergreen plant in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Agavoideae. It is widely cultivated in many places, and has been known by several names, including Agave franzosini and Agave beaulueriana. [1] The original reports say that the species is native to Mexico, but a more detailed location was not provided.
Agave demeesteriana forms a large, dense rosette of fleshy, smooth-edged leaves. These leaves can grow up to 2–3 feet long and 6 inches wide, boasting a beautiful blue-green color with a slight waxy sheen.
The fruits are linear-oblong to obovoid, with valves 11–18 mm wide, stipes 1–4 mm long. Fully mature seeds are 5×6.5 mm. [2] The species is diploid.
