Gutierrez served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines from May 14, 1982 until March 31, 1993, [2] when he resigned because of plagiarism that dealt with a decision in a Supreme Court Case between Eastern Telecommunications Philippines and PLDT.
