Bay St. Louis is located in southeastern Hancock County. It is situated on the west side of the Bay of St. Louis which empties into the Mississippi Sound , adjacent to Pass Christian to the east. The city is bordered to the north by the Jourdan River, the primary inlet of the bay and Diamondhead .
The population was 4,058 at the 2000 census. It was not included in the 2010 census. The area is now largely within the city limits of Bay St. Louis, although some of the western side of the former CDP is still unincorporated after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. [1]
Amenities include a canoe/kayak ramp, 16 miles (26 km) of equestrian trails, and a primitive equestrian campground, as well as a 0.5-mile (0.80 km) nature trail, 20 miles (32 km) of hiking trails, fishing pier, canoe/kayak launch, and a picnic pavilion. The park is open from 8:00 am till sundown year-round.
The park contains 564-acres of forest, prairie, and riparian environment in suburban St. Louis. The 4.4-mile, mixed gravel and paved Hawk Ridge Trail navigates the perimeter of the park, with multiple shorter trails on the park's interior.
Bay St. Louis station is a closed Amtrak intercity train station in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, which served the Sunset Limited.The Bay St. Louis station consists of two small platforms with indoor/outdoor shelters near the former Louisville & Nashville Railroad Depot, which was built in 1929, but is closed to the public.
