The present college building was inaugurated on 12 April 1972 by Dr.K.Balaraman Nair, the then Director of Health Services. 1987-Started Post graduate course in nursing (M.Sc Nursing) in Medical and Surgical specialties with an annual intake of four students. 1992- BSc Nursing seats were increased from 25 to 50 with 6 seats reserved for boys.

[1] The institute offers all the available courses in nursing , namely, B.Sc (Nursing) , M.Sc (Nursing) , general nursing and midwifery , and Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing).
The history of Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing can be traced back to the School of Nursing Administration founded in 1943. As a temporary campus, the college was allotted the vacated American Army Barracks and its Ccensor's block at, Jaswant Singh Road, and FEB Hostel at Curzon Road New Delhi walkable distance from India Gate. The School of Nursing was dedicated by Sethu Lakshmi Bai in 1954, and was upgraded to a college of nursing in 1963. The cancer wing was dedicated in 1958; after two decades, the Regional Cancer Centre was founded. The dentistry course and the first post-graduate course began in 1959. The library was established during the 1960s.
