A liquefied natural gas terminal is a facility for managing the import and/or export of liquefied natural gas (LNG). It comprises equipment for loading and unloading of LNG cargo to/from ocean-going tankers , for transfer across the site, liquefaction, re-gasification, processing, storage, pumping, compression, and metering of LNG. The heating value depends on the source of gas that is used and the process that is used to liquefy the gas. The range of heating value can span ±10 to 15 percent. A typical value of the higher heating value of LNG is approximately 50 MJ/kg or 21,500 BTU/lb. [2] A typical value of the lower heating value of LNG is 45 MJ/kg or 19,350 BTU/lb.
Moving LNG production to an offshore setting presents several challenges. In terms of the design and construction of the FLNG facility, every element of a conventional LNG facility needs to fit into an area roughly one quarter the size, whilst maintaining appropriate levels of safety and giving increased flexibility to LNG production. LNG tanker ships used for export typically range from 1.5 to 3.7 BCF (billion cubic feet) equivalent capacity (50,000 to 170,000 cubic meters), thus the Elba LNG terminal should be able to export approximately one tanker per week, depending on the capacity of the tanker. Larger tankers would take approximately two weeks of LNG production to fill.
In my previous article, we saw how an escalating global demand for natural gas creates an argument for its export. But that alone won't make U.S. exports profitable. There are other major factors ...
The country's first LNG Terminal will be built in Matarbari, Cox's Bazar for imports and will be a floating facility. Bangladesh plans to build a permanent LNG Terminal on Maheshkhali Island in the future. [1] Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is widely used by vehicles in Bangladesh. The Eastern Refinery in Chittagong is the country's largest oil ...
