Debuting as a 2008 model and continuing for 2009, the Shelby GT500KR ("KR" being an abbreviation for "King of the Road") pays homage to the original 1968 Shelby Mustang of the same name. Production for 2008 model year was limited to 1,011 units (including prototypes), with another 712 KR models built for the 2009 model year.
