Glasgow Caledonian University, informally GCU, Caledonian or Caley, is a public university in Glasgow, Scotland.It was formed in 1993 by the merger of The Queen's College, Glasgow (founded in 1875) and Glasgow Polytechnic (originally Glasgow College of Technology (GCT), founded in 1971).
The university was founded in 1796 through the will of John Anderson, professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of Glasgow.He left the majority of his estate to create a second university in Glasgow which would focus on "Useful Learning" – specializing in practical subjects – "for the good of mankind and the improvement of science, a place of useful learning".

The Glasgow School for Business and Society is the business school of Glasgow Caledonian University, and was established in 2002, originally named the Caledonian Business School.
