Anganwadi (Hindi pronunciation: [ãːɡɐnɐʋaːɖiː]) is a type of rural child care centre in India. It was started by the Indian government in 1975 as part of the Integrated Child Development Services program to combat child hunger and malnutrition. Anganwadi in Hindi means "courtyard shelter" in English.
The project was established in 2012, under the Child Care (Amendment) Act 2007, [6] with seeding provided by the One Foundation, Atlantic Philanthropies and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. [7] Family law proceedings in the Republic of Ireland take place in camera, [8] the project follows such cases in the Family Courts.
