[3] [4] The vineyard was first planted in 1976, and opened to the public in 1981. [5] [6] Amalthea has 10 acres of grapes under cultivation, and produces 5,000 cases of wine per year.
A handful of wineries are in western New Jersey's Warren Hills Viticultural Area. [10] Part of the Central Delaware Valley Viticultural Area is in New Jersey, but no New Jersey wineries are currently in this viticultural area.
