Razia Sajjad Zaheer (15 October 1918 – 18 December 1979) was an Indian writer in the Urdu language, a translator, and a prominent member of the Progressive Writers Association. She won the Uttar Pradesh Sahitya Akademi Award as well as the Soviet Land Nehru Award.

Krishan Chander was born in Bharatpur, Rajasthan where his father worked as a doctor. [1] [3] [4] The family originally belonged to Wazirabad District Gujranwala, of undivided Punjab, India. Chander spent his childhood in Poonch, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, where his father worked as the physician of Maharaja Poonch.
