Dover is a town in Morris County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.Located on the Rockaway River, Dover is about 31 miles (50 km) west of New York City and about 23 miles (37 km) west of Newark, New Jersey.
The town of Dover was incorporated in 1869 and George Richards was elected its first mayor. [4] That same year, he built a large commercial building on Blackwell Street. [5] It was a J. J. Dover is an active commuter railroad train station in the town of Dover, Morris County, New Jersey. Located at the end of electric service, Dover station serves as a secondary terminal of NJ Transit's Morristown and Montclair-Boonton Lines. Non-electric service continues west to Hackettstown on both lines.
