Arlington Park (formerly known as Arlington International Racecourse) is a former horse race track in the Chicago suburbs of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Once called the Arlington Park Jockey Club , it was located adjacent to the Illinois Route 53 expressway and serviced by the Chicago and North Western Railway .
This makes it possible to seat larger numbers of people, and differentiates a race-track from other stadiums, in which the entire field of play usually is visible from every seat. Some race-tracks also contain sitting or standing areas in the form of grassy banks. Currently all venues with a standard capacity of 35,000 or more are included.
The Pucker Up Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race for 3-year-old fillies held annually in early September at Arlington Park race track near Chicago, Illinois. A Grade III event, it is contested over a distance of 9 furlongs (1 1/8 miles) on turf. [1] In 2022, it will be moved to Churchill Downs. [2]
The Isaac Murphy Handicap is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually in late June at Arlington Park racetrack in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.The race is run on Polytrack synthetic dirt and is open to fillies and mares, age three and older who were bred in the State of Illinois.
The race is designed to be a prep for the Breeders' Cup Classic. Inaugurated at the now defunct Washington Park Race Track, in 1958 it was moved to Arlington Park. In 1978 and 1979 it was contested on turf. In 1935 the race was run as the Washington Park Championship Stakes and from 1980 through 1985 as the Washington Park Stakes.
