Douglas County is a county in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Nevada.As of the 2020 census, the population was 49,488. [1] Its county seat is Minden. [2] Douglas County comprises the Gardnerville Ranchos, NV Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Reno–Carson City–Fernley, NV Combined Statistical Area.
Minden is a census-designated place (CDP) in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. [3] The population was 3,001 at the 2010 census. [citation needed] It is the county seat of Douglas County [4] and is adjacent to the town of Gardnerville. The Douglas campus of the Western Nevada College is located in Minden.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners voted in June 2016 to place a ballot measure asking to create a public library district and fund it using a property tax of 44 cents per $1,000 in assessed value. [4] During the November 2016 election, the library ballot measure was rejected by 55 percent of Douglas County voters.

The Historic Marker Program was initiated by the Nevada State Legislature in 1967 to bring the state's heritage to the public's attention with on-site markers. Because of budget cuts the program became dormant in 2009.
