Michael Scott, having left Dunder Mifflin with Pam Beesly to form his own company, is having trouble starting his first day as president of the Michael Scott Paper Company. Pam tries to keep things together and suggests they create a list of things to do to maintain a positive working atmosphere.
Dwight also reveals that Danny had a romantic history with Pam Halpert four years previously. Jim and Dwight call in Michael Scott, who is ecstatic at getting a chance to make a sale, to come and try to save them. The company ends up taking Danny's offer, even after Michael promises at-cost paper sales and weekend delivery.
Michael grabs his customer list and makes a final desperate offer for the other employees to join him. Charles notices Michael and physically threatens him, prompting Michael to leave without the customer list.
