Moon Valley High School has won 18 state championships in various sports. [8] Its most-winning program is the girls' softball team, which has won six state championships, [9] titles including two back-to-back sets in the 1986–1987 and 1992–1993 seasons. The Moon Area School District is located about 16 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.It serves a portion of the West Hills/Airport Area and comprises Crescent and Moon townships, [2] which include unincorporated villages such as Glenwillard, Wireton, Coraopolis Heights, Thorn Hollow, West Coraopolis, Carnot, Thorn Run Valley, and Mooncrest.
