The Carmel Clay School District is a public school district located in Carmel, Indiana, serving Carmel, which has been coterminous with Clay Township since 2018. The district operates 11 elementary schools (grades K-5), three middle schools (grades 6–8) and one high school, with an overall enrollment of 16,352 in the 2018–2019 school year.
The Carmel/Clay Township area was settled by Quakers in the early 1830s. In 1833, a meeting house was constructed on a hill where the older Carmel Cemetery sits today. It was common practice well into the 20th century for Quakers to give names to their meeting places. Benjamin Mendenhall suggested the name Richland for the new meeting.

[8] In the 2014–15, all 8 of the Niles North Teams qualified for the Illinois State Competition, with one of the teams, 333M, being crowned the Illinois State Tournament Champions and competing at VEX Worlds.
