Sauropoda is a clade of dinosaurs that consists of roughly 300 species of large, long-necked herbivores and includes the largest terrestrial animals ever to exist. The first sauropod species were named in 1842 by Richard Owen, though at the time, he regarded them as unusual crocodilians.
The holotype (specimen Mal-175), consisting solely of part of a lower mandible and twenty isolated teeth, were found in the Dinosaur Beds of Malawi between 1987 and 1992. Karongasaurus was the first dinosaur named in a publication that was published solely online; [1] Karongasaurus gittelmani was named and described by Gomani (2005). [1] [2]

Kentrosaurus (/ ˌ k ɛ n t r oʊ ˈ s ɔːr ə s / KEN-troh-SOR-əs; lit. ' prickle lizard ') is a genus of stegosaurid dinosaur from the Late Jurassic in Lindi Region of Tanzania.The type species is K. aethiopicus, named and described by German palaeontologist Edwin Hennig in 1915.
