Anne Bogan was born on March 17, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio.Bogan joined the Marvelettes in 1967 after lead singer Gladys Horton departed. [2] She can be heard on their releases Sophisticated Soul, In Full Bloom, and The Return of The Marvelettes, however neither Katherine Anderson or Bogan appear on the cover of The Return of The Marvelettes.
Sophisticated Soul is the eighth album issued by Motown girl-group the Marvelettes.It is the first album to feature Ann Bogan who replaced Gladys Horton in 1967 (although Horton's voice is featured on a few of the tracks), and most of the lead vocals are by Wanda Young.
The news of the solo album, and its later remarketing as the Marvelettes's final album, so outraged Young's groupmates Katherine Anderson and Ann Bogan that they refused to participate in appearing on the album's cover due to what they felt was Motown's disrespect towards them and the group in general.

Horton left the group in 1967 to get married and was replaced by Ann Bogan, shortly after giving birth to her son, Sammie, who was born with cerebral palsy. The Andantes would back Bogan again on the Marvelettes' 1968 single "I'm Gonna Hold On as Long as I Can". [3] By the time the Marvelettes disbanded at the end of the decade, the Andantes had, including their singles as well, backed all three Marvelettes lead singers on 16 singles (and several more recordings).
