The Mifflin County School District is a midsized, rural public school district located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.The district boundaries coincide with the boundaries of Mifflin County, minus the southwestern municipalities of Kistler and Newton Hamilton boroughs and Wayne Township, which are part of the Mount Union Area School District.

Lewistown Area High School was founded in September 1976 and was one of two high schools in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. It served residents of the Borough of Lewistown and communities to the borough's south and west. It was part of the Mifflin County School District.

The school was founded in 1945 by assimilated Mennonites in order to establish control over the education of their children at a time of school reorganization.
