Carl K. Linge died in 1963 and his son, David E. Linge (the second generation) became president. David E. Linge had been working with his father for a number of years. David founded The Cedar Memorial Funeral Home Company in 1965 creating the first combination operation in the state of Iowa with a funeral home on the cemetery grounds.

George Davenport gathered a group of investors at his home on February 23, 1836, to create a company in order to develop a new town. It was to be located on the Iowa side of the Mississippi River opposite the town of Stevenson, Illinois, which is now the city of Rock Island. [6] Antoine Le Claire was part of the group.
