John Warren Underwood (November 25, 1934 – April 12, 2023) was an American sportswriter who spent most of his career with Sports Illustrated magazine. [1] He is best known for ghoswriting with Baseball Hall of Fame slugger Ted Williams, most notably co-authoring Williams' autobiography and his book The Science of Hitting.
Rogin worked at Sports Illustrated for more than 30 years, eventually becoming the magazine's managing editor. [2] Rogin's tenure was covered in Michael MacCambridge's The Franchise: A History of Sports Illustrated Magazine, which addressed the story that Rogin named Mary Decker the 1983 Sportswoman of the Year due to an infatuation. Marc André Laguerre (February 21, 1915 – January 18, 1979) was a journalist and magazine editor, best known as the managing editor of Sports Illustrated from 1960 to 1974, during which time he oversaw the growth in the magazine from a niche publication to become the industry leader in weekly sports magazines.

In 1960, he became publisher of Sports Illustrated, a job he held for five years. In the late 1960s James was Time's Inc.'s vice president in Washington. He decided to retire in 1974 and moved to Laguna Hills, California. He was a member of the Peabody Awards Board of Jurors from 1975 to 1979 and Chair from 1977 to 1979. [2]
