Chester City Transport commenced operating bus services in Chester in 1930. [2] It was operated as part of Chester City Council. To comply with the Transport Act 1985, the bus operation was transferred to a separate company in 1986. [1] It continued to trade as Chester City Transport until rebranded as ChesterBus in April 2005.
The bus station was expected to open in early 2017, but was delayed. The first buses entered the facility during a test on 27 March 2017. [ 3 ] The first passenger service to use the bus was Chester's park and ride service on 30 May 2017, and most other services began using the station on 5 June. [ 4 ]

After 1945, Northern and United started more co-operation on routes and further expansion in the Chester-le-Street and Stanley areas. As for vehicles, Guy, Leyland and Crossley were quite common. In the 1950s Northern bought up more smaller bus operators and with expanding industry at the time rebodied quite a few of their prewar buses.
