Maryland Route 6 is the main east-west highway serving La Plata, following Port Tobacco Road and Charles Street through town. From La Plata, MD 6 heads west to Port Tobacco and continues east to Charlotte Hall. Maryland Route 225 follows Hawthorne Road westward from US 301 in La Plata, eventually reaching Maryland Route 210 near Indian Head.

It is a two-story, three bay Federal style frame house, with a fine view of the Port Tobacco Valley. Oak Grove is a historic home located at La Plata, Charles County, Maryland, United States. It was built in the early Federal style about 1800, and is a one-story, two part brick house of Flemish bond masonry. Two outbuildings date from the 19th century: a small frame dependency built about 1830, and a small corncrib with flanking sheds.
