Batman and Wonder Woman arrive at the Fortress of Solitude to celebrate Superman's birthday. They soon discover that he is being held captive by Mongul in the fortress, and is under the effects of a parasitic plant known as the Black Mercy, which has left him prisoner in a dream where Krypton was never destroyed and he leads an idyllic life.
The program was the first weekly American live-action television series with a female superhero lead character, debuting on September 6, 1975, predating the weekly debuts of both The Bionic Woman (January 14, 1976) and Wonder Woman (April 21, 1976). [3]
