Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University was established on 2 October 1972, by an act of State Legislature. On its formation, the Government Engineering Colleges at Anantapur, Kakinada and Hyderabad, along with the Government College of Fine Arts and Architecture at Hyderabad, became its constituent colleges.
After the trifurcation of JNTU Hyderabad into three universities, the college has become the constituent college of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada in 2008. On November 24, 2021 Government of Andhra Pradesh introduced a bill in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly to upgrade the college into an autonomous university.
Over time JNTU, Hyderabad has become a multi-campus university. Later in the year 2008, JNTU, Hyderabad was divided into four independent universities. The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA) was established on 18 August 2008 by an Act of the Legislature of the State of Andhra Pradesh.
Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU), is an architecture and fine arts university located at Masab Tank, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. [1] JNAFAU has two colleges which offer several undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD research programs, with an emphasis of two different colleges: School of Planning & Architecture and College of Fine Arts.
JNTU Kakinada has two constituent colleges: University College of Engineering, Kakinada and University College of Engineering, Narasaraopet. [2] On 12 January 2022, the Government of Andhra Pradesh granted university status to JNTUK Vizianagaram and renamed it as Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University - Gurajada, Vizianagaram .
The Institute also has number of clubs ranging from dance (Livewire crew), Music (Cresendo), arts (Creative arts at VNR), theatre/short-film club (VJ-Teatro), Scintilate (Photography club), Social clubs (VNRSF-student force), NSS (national service scheme), N-army, Stentorian, VJSV (vignana jyothi sahithi vanam), Drama- Dramatrix and many more.
The college is affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH). In the year 2010–11, the institution attained autonomous status and it is the first college under JNTUH to get that status. [1] [2]
