Quigley sold the ballpark to the Town of West Haven in 1951. It is primarily used for baseball and was home to the West Haven Yankees and West Haven A's. The bleachers were razed in 1987. It is the current home of the Notre Dame (West Haven) High School baseball team and West Haven Twilight League amateur baseball league.

The Chargers' 20 varsity athletics teams, eight men's and 12 women's, compete as members of the Northeast-10 Conference, with the exception of women's rugby which competes under USA Rugby. [2]

In the 1970s and 1980s, it hosted four United States men's national soccer team matches. It most famously hosted the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinals game between the Carolina Railhawks and the New England Revolution on September 4, 2007, in which New England won 2–1 to advance to the finals, [2] where they eventually defeated FC Dallas for the Dewar Cup.
