Great Championship Wrestling’s weekly event in Phenix City, Al featured a rare reunion of Blackout, one of Georgia’s top tag teams over the last decade. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very run-of-the-mill show. I’m going to chalk it up as an off night, especially for the booker(s).
I grew up in Wilmington NC and I remember that even back to the mid 1970's,there were states on the championship belt in Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling, Georgia being one of them. Then in 1983 I was stationed at Ft Stewart just outside of Savannah and started going to the matches at the civic center.

It took time, but it was time worth taking, as the crowds have gotten progressively hotter in recent months. The promotion has cultivated a hardcore following that appreciates good stories and quality wrestling.
