Rockwall Independent School District is a public school district established in 1841 in Rockwall, Texas. In addition to Rockwall, the district serves the cities of Heath , McLendon-Chisholm , Mobile City , most of Fate , and small portions of Rowlett , Wylie , Garland , and Dallas in Rockwall County . Royse City ISD provides three campuses in Fate; Miss May Vernon Elementary School, Harry H Herndon Elementary School and Bobby Summers Middle School. [14] The Rockwall ISD has two elementary campuses. Billie Stevenson Elementary School, which opened at the start of the 2013–2014 school year and is located in the city's Woodcreek subdivision.
The Academic Decathlon team is known as one of the top teams in both Texas and the nation. In 2013 and 2014, Rockwall won first place in the state of Texas and first place in the nation among public schools (3rd overall). The school shares the Wilkerson Sanders Memorial Stadium with Rockwall-Heath High School.
In January 2019, Rockwall-Heath had hired historic Texas high school football coach, Mike Spradlin. In his first season, the Hawks finished 5-5. In the 2020-2021 season, the Rockwall-Heath Varsity football team had seen a 10-4 record. Which would be ended following a 27-24 loss to Cedar Hill in the State Quarterfinals.
