  2. Maximum shear stress of steel? - CR4 Discussion Thread -...

    cr4.globalspec.com/thread/22170/Maximum-shear-stress-of-steel

The shear limit is related to the ultimate stress by different theories and the most current equations are either the von Mises which says that τmax= R /√3 = 0.57735*R, where R is Re= elasticity limit or an other one which states that τmax= 0.5*R. For combined loading and for steel (ductile material) the von Mises equation is the one to ...

  3. Compressive Yield vs. Compressive Strength for Iron

    cr4.globalspec.com/thread/3584/compressive-yield-vs-compressive-strength-for-iron

Re: Compressive Yield vs. Compressive Strength for Iron. Then 8,68-16,53GPa is yield and >110GPa is ultimate strength. Before ultimate strength is reached material is plasticaly deformed and after it is crushed or raptured. Yield is point where plastic deformation starts. Corect me if I didn't get it right.

  4. In reply to #2. Re: Shear Strength of Gold. 02/27/2012 10:34 PM. in one website (forget what its name), theoretically the formula : i.Stamping without shearing : perimeter x material thickness x shear strength = required tonnage. ii.punching: required tonnage for stamping x shear factor.

  5. shear pin must be designed depending on its shear strength or tensile strength, but hardness is insufficient to determine the ability of material to carry shear stress, if it is hard to test the original part to determine tensile strength, you may analyze this part to determine its chemical composition and select similar material in chemical composition.

  6. Max Bending Moment of a Pipe - CR4 Discussion Thread - GlobalSpec

    cr4.globalspec.com/thread/31428/Max-Bending-Moment-of-a-Pipe

The problem I keep getting is that the results seem incorrect and I have nothing to compare it too. The pipe is 180 mm long with an internal radius of 2.5 mm and an outer radius of 7.5 mm making the pipe 5 mm thick. The elastic modulus of stainless steel is 195 Gpa and the shear modulus is 77.2 Mpa. The applied force being 41.8 N/m.

  7. 8 Reasons Steel Can Warp in Heat-Treat - GlobalSpec

    cr4.globalspec.com/blogentry/13520

Here are 8 reasons steel parts can warp upon quench and tempering: Rapid heating. Overheating. Non-uniform heating. Non-uniform cooling. Non-uniform agitation. Water contamination in oil. Large changes of mass and section. Asymmetric features.

  8. Gluing Steel Threaded Inserts in Pri-Drilledhole in Granite stone

05/09/2007 9:52 AM. Hi !! I am quite sure members would suggest me most suitable glue / adhesive / Two part epoxy required for gluing Stainless Steel / Brass Threaded inserts M- 8 Size, 30 mm long in pre-drilled holes ( Cavity ) in Granite Stone Surface Plates. Glue / adhesive / epoxy must have good bonding strength to withstand Torque Test of ...

  9. SA 516 Gr 70 instead of SA 105 as stiffner material

    cr4.globalspec.com/thread/33732/SA-516-Gr-70-instead-of-SA-105-as-stiffner...

In reply to #1. Re: SA 516 Gr 70 instead of SA 105 as stiffner material. 02/22/2009 1:46 AM. Dear XMech, you are right, and I like to add: • ASME SA516 is carbon steel for pressure vessel plates, for moderate-and lower temperature service, where ASME SA515 is carbon steel for pressure vessel plates, for intermediate-and higher temperature ...

  10. You must also check the anchorage for allowable tensile force of the anchor steel itself versus the allowable concrete tensile tear-out (see Appendix Sections D5 & D6). [Note: If you have treaded projected end of the anchor steel with steel nut and washer you must check the allowable tensile load of the steel using the Tensile Area of the anchor.]

  11. Necessary Outside Diameter of Hollow Steel Shaft

    cr4.globalspec.com/thread/86525/Necessary-Outside-Diameter-of-Hollow-Steel-Shaft

The maximum shear stress is not to exceed 70MN/m2 nor is the overall angle of twist to exceed 1.3°. Determine the necessary outside diameter of the shaft so that both of the above constraints are satisfied and the calculate actual maximum shear stress and the actual angle of twist (Assume the modulus of rigidity of steel is 125 GPa)
