The Bomonti House was built in 1905. [4] The house is in the Swiss Chalet Revival style, as befitted Bomonti's ethnic heritage. The architect is not known. The state of Ohio was the top destination from 1870 to 1890 for Swiss emigrating to the United States, and Cleveland was one of the top cities in Ohio for Swiss to settle. [5]

In 1905, [9] former Cleveland resident [10] Alfred Atmore Pope and one of his business associates, Harrison Whittemore, purchased the site of the Halle Building [11] and began planning the construction of a 16-story office building on the eastern portion of the site (adjacent to the Point Building). Cleveland and Lamont were known to have many parties during the summers. His old house still stands. In 1888, he began spending his summers on the coast of Maine and bought a house in Sorrento known as Blueberry Lodge, which also still stands today. Lamont died at his country home, Altamount in Millbrook, New York, on July 23, 1905, at aged 54. [1]
