After playing a single game for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, he finished out the year with the Colorado Eagles and then retired as a player. In 2007, Swanson began volunteering as a coach for North Colorado Youth Hockey. five years later, he was hired on as a Director and continues to work in that capacity as of 2021.
In January of 2023, the NAHL approved the Colorado Grit as an expansion franchise. [1] The Grit's initial ownership group was the same one that ran the Northern Colorado Eagles (a Tier III junior team). The Northern Colorado Eagles ceased operations after the 2022-23 season and transitioned fully to the Colorado Grit. [2]

The Tier 1 Elite Hockey League (T1EHL), formerly Midwest Elite Hockey League, is located primarily in the Midwest United States and is the premier amateur youth hockey league in the United States. Players from all over the country move to the area where the teams are located to gain exposure and skill development needed for higher levels.
The Teamsters hockey team were the brainchild of Gary Atwood, father of hockey playing sons, and then head of the Fairbanks Teamsters Local 959. Wanting a higher level of ice hockey for local youth to aspire to, and to provide Fairbanks with a sports institution that could compete with Anchorage, Atwood helped form the team in 1975.
