Krypton is an American science fiction television series developed by David S. Goyer for Syfy.Focusing on Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the grandfather of DC Comics superhero Kal-El / Superman, the series is set approximately 200 years before the birth of Superman and takes place on the eponymous fictional planet.
This version, also known as Val-Zod, is the heroic adopted son of Zod who was adopted by the House of El and later succeeds Kal-El as Superman. An analogue of Chris Kent, Clark Wayne / Knightwing appears in Superman & Batman: Generations. He is the grandson of Superman and son of Joel Kent.

After Kal-El is killed in an invasion of Earth by Darkseid, a new Kryptonian who resembles a blue eyed black man emerges as Superman, Val-Zod, a pacifist who reconsiders his beliefs in order to defeat an evil clone of Kal-El. Val-Zod is the son of the deceased Zod who, along with Power Girl, are both adopted by Jor-El and Lara.
