MC Championship (MCC) is a Minecraft tournament organised by YouTuber Scott Major (known online as Smajor1995 or Dangthatsalongname) and Minecraft collective Noxcrew. Ten teams of four compete in a series of Minecraft minigames. The tournament began its first season on November 17, 2019. Its fourth and current season began on May 4, 2024.
Minecraft 1.13 also provides a feature known as "data packs" which allows players or server operators to provide additional content into the game. What can be added is limited to building on existing features, such as adding recipes, changing what items blocks drop when broken, and executing console commands .

Mojang hired several new staff members for the Minecraft team, while Persson passed the lead developer role to Jens Bergensten.

[7] In July 2020, YouTuber MrBeast released a video where he and 50 other people built his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina within the project. [8] In 2020, a full sized recreation of the Taj Mahal was completed on the server by Daniel Tan. [9]
