Tanjong Bungah [a] [2] is a suburb of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is located along the northern coast of Penang Island between Batu Ferringhi and Tanjong Tokong , about 6.5 km (4.0 mi) northwest of the city centre .
The suburb is bordered by Tanjong Bungah to the west and Tanjong Pinang to the east. [3] The suburb was founded in the mid-17th century by Chinese settlers, and was believed to be the site of the first Chinese settlement on Penang Island. It remained a fishing village until the 1970s, when rapid urbanisation from the city centre soon followed.
In 2022, Village Grocer, a Malaysian premium grocery chain, opened its first Penang store at City Junction, becoming the mall's anchor tenant. [ 7 ] [ 8 ] Since then, the 217,000 sq ft (20,200 m 2 ) retail centre has attracted a range of lifestyle, and food and beverage (F&B) tenants, including CU Mart, Guardian , MR.DIY and Taco Bell .
