Beaver Township was organized March 13, 1867. Levi Willard, Josiah L. Wellington, and Oscar H. Kellogg were appointed to oversee the first township meeting to be held on the first Monday in April of that year. [11] In 1873, Deep River Township was set off from Beaver Township. [12] A post office name Willard was opened on February 26, 1885. [13]
Cole Creek: There was a post office with this name in the township from 1904 until 1907. [4] Volney: Post office opened in 1880, and closed in 1909. Despite being the current location of Beaver Township Hall, Volney is considered to be a ghost town. The town once included a church, cemetery, schoolhouse, and creamery.
