The plexus is in the adventitia. These nerves travel in individual bundles and along small blood vessels to form the ureteric plexus. [2] Sensation supplied is sparse close to the kidneys and increases closer to the bladder. [2] Sensation to the ureters is provided by nerves that come from T11 – L2 segments of the spinal cord. [2]
The nerves from these sources, fifteen or twenty in number, have a few ganglia developed upon them. It enters the kidneys on arterial branches to supply the vessels, renal glomerulus, and tubules with branches to the ureteric plexus. [1] Some filaments are distributed to the spermatic plexus and, on the right side, to the inferior vena cava.

Below this the lesser splanchnic nerve arises from T10–T11, leaves the sympathetic chain and synapses at the aorticorenal ganglion before going on to also supply the kidney and upper ureter. Below this the least splanchnic nerve arises from T12 and leaves the sympathetic chain to synapse at the renal plexus.
The juxtaglomerular apparatus is part of the kidney nephron, next to the glomerulus. It is found between afferent arteriole and the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle (distal straight tubule) of the same nephron. This location is critical to its function in regulating renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate. [2] [3]
This fissure is a hilum that transmits the vessels, nerves, and ureter. From anterior to posterior, the renal vein exits, the renal artery enters, and the renal pelvis exits the kidney. On the left hand side the hilum is located at the L1 vertebral level and the right kidney at level L1-2. The lower border of the kidneys is usually alongside L3.
The celiac plexus, also known as the solar plexus because of its radiating nerve fibers, [1] is a complex network of nerves located in the abdomen, near where the celiac trunk, superior mesenteric artery, and renal arteries branch from the abdominal aorta.
The vagus nerve (CN X) does not participate in these cranial ganglia as most of its parasympathetic fibers are destined for a broad array of ganglia on or near thoracic viscera (esophagus, trachea, heart, lungs) and abdominal viscera (stomach, pancreas, liver, kidneys, small intestine, and about half of the large intestine).
