Craven County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina.As of the 2020 census, the population was 100,720. [1] Its county seat is New Bern. [2] The county was created in 1705 as Archdale Precinct from the now-extinct Bath County.
The community is in southeastern Craven County, on the south bank of the tidal Neuse River. By land, it is reached by North Carolina Highway 306 (Ferry Road), which leads south 4 miles (6 km) to North Carolina Highway 101 at a point 5 miles (8 km) east of Havelock.
Its predecessors were The Beaufort News, a newspaper founded in 1912, and the Twin City Daily Times, a newspaper founded in 1936. [50] The Phillips family purchased and merged the two newspapers together to form Carteret County News-Times. [51] The Carteret County News-Times ' s earliest printing was on May 18, 1948. [49]

Havelock is part of the New Bern, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area.
