The University of Tampa (UTampa) is a private university in Tampa, Florida.It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.UT offers more than 200 programs of study, including 19 master's degrees and a broad variety of majors, minors, pre-professional programs and certificates.
The University of South Florida Office of Graduate Studies is based on the Tampa campus and serves as the center of leadership for graduate education at the University of South Florida. [62] The Tampa campus is located in North Tampa east of the University neighborhood, about seven miles north of downtown.
Tampa College was a private business college founded as a coeducational, nonsectarian, and proprietary institution, in 1890. [1] The school was originally located in Tampa, Florida. The final owner, Corinthian Colleges , folded the school into its Everest brand.
In late 1962, USF Founding President John S. Allen [2] asked for the State University System to consider a school of engineering. On October 19, 1962, the Florida State Board of Control granted "tentative approval" for the establishment of an engineering school at USF, placing the project at the bottom of the Board's list of priorities for the following academic year.
