New Mexico State Road 14 (NM 14) is an approximately 54-mile-long (87 km) state road located in northern New Mexico. The highway connects Albuquerque to Santa Fe and comprises most of the Turquoise Trail, a National Scenic Byway which also includes NM 536 (Sandia Crest Scenic Byway).
One trail head for the wilderness is only 15 miles by road from Santa Fe, the state capital. Covering an area of 223,667 acres (90,515 ha)(350 sq mi) it is the second largest wilderness in the state after the Gila Wilderness .
The site of the 1881 dam, Two-Mile Dam, upstream of Santa Fe, is now part of the 190-acre (0.77 km 2) Santa Fe Canyon Preserve, [2] a trailhead for the 20-mile (32 km) Dale Ball Foothill Trail System. The Santa Fe River Watershed is 285 square miles (740 km 2), ranging in elevations between 12,408 ft (3,782 m) to 5,220 ft (1,590 m).
