Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is the sole retailer of electricity in Trinidad and Tobago. It is responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the country's electrical transmission and distribution network. The utility supplies electric power to customers on both islands via a single interconnected grid.
The authority is the largest public utility in the country. It serves over 92% of the population with pipeborne water through private house connections and standpipes. [ 2 ] Since its establishment, water production has increased from 223,000 cubic metres to 650,000 cubic metres in 1990.
In November 2011, the OECD removed Trinidad and Tobago from its list of Developing Countries. [3] Trinidad's economy is strongly influenced by the petroleum industry. Tourism and manufacturing are also important to the local economy. Tourism is a growing sector, although not as proportionately important as in many other Caribbean islands.

The Caroni–Arena Dam is the largest dam in Trinidad and Tobago. It is located in the Arena Forest Reserve, south of Arima, in the eastern Caroni Plains. WASA supplies water to areas of central Trinidad by purifying the water from the dam. It was opened in the late 1970s/early 1980s.
On 20 October 1889 the British crown implemented a Royal Order in Council constituting Tobago as a ward of Trinidad, thus terminating local government on Tobago and formed a unified colony government. In 1945 when the county council system was first introduced, Tobago was administered as a single county of Trinidad.
