Oblique projection is a simple type of technical drawing of graphical projection used for producing two-dimensional (2D) images of three-dimensional (3D) objects. The objects are not in perspective and so do not correspond to any view of an object that can be obtained in practice, but the technique yields somewhat convincing and useful results.

A common practice is to draw the visible edges as solid lines and the hidden lines as dotted lines, dashed lines, [2] or thinner lines than the visible lines. Hidden lines add geometric information about the unseen sides of an object. They are used to help a person visualize drawings of geometric objects in three-dimensional space. [3]
3D projections use the primary qualities of an object's basic shape to create a map of points, that are then connected to one another to create a visual element.
