Tokyo Ghoul (Japanese: 東京喰種 （ トーキョーグール ）, Hepburn: Tōkyō Gūru) is a 2017 Japanese dark fantasy action film based on the manga series Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The film is directed by Kentarō Hagiwara and stars Masataka Kubota as Ken Kaneki and Fumika Shimizu as Tōka Kirishima. [ 2 ]
In 2013, a prequel spin-off manga titled Tokyo Ghoul [Jack] was released on Jump Live digital manga service. The story spans seven chapters and focuses on Kishō Arima and Taishi Fura twelve years before the events of Tokyo Ghoul. It was compiled into a tankōbon volume published digitally by Shueisha on October 18, 2013. [11]
On April 11, 2019, the title of the film was announced as Tokyo Ghoul S, and a trailer and theatrical poster for the film was released. Kaneki frees the powerful ghoul Matasaka Kamishiro, commonly known as Sachi, a ghoul who had a personal relationship with Rize. However, Kaneki is attacked by him and badly beaten.
