Combee Settlement is a census-designated place and unincorporated area in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,436 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area includes the separate unincorporated community of Country Club Estates.
El Dorado Estates, Inc. was incorporated in January 1955, with Washington, D.C. real estate developer Leon Ackerman as its only shareholder. In October 1955, the company's name was changed to Indian Lake Estates, Inc. and it purchased a large tract of undeveloped land on the shores of Lake Walk-in-Water, about 19 miles southeast of Lake Wales. Fort Meade is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. As of 2020, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 5,100. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city was named for George Meade, at the time an Army lieutenant serving in Florida following the Second Seminole War. [5]
