Blvd (stylized as BLVD) is a three-story shopping center under construction on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States. It is being developed by Gindi Capital, in partnership with entrepreneurs Andrew and Peggy Cherng. The project was announced in 2019, but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Phoenix Financial Center is an example of International style architecture, featuring many elements of Googie design. The architect of the building is Wenceslaus Sarmiento. The building is said to be the site of a "fallout-proof" time capsule which was set to be opened in 2012, but the capsule has never been found. [2]
The Phoenix Civic Plaza Department was created in November 1969, to oversee the operational aspects of the construction, purchase equipment and hire and train staff. Construction of Phoenix Civic Plaza began July 8 of that same year and was completed in 1972 at a cost of $28 million and occupying 16.5 acres (67,000 m 2 ).
Next to the arena and central to the project is WaterDance Plaza, an events plaza featuring a 60,000-US-gallon (230,000 L; 50,000 imp gal) "dancing fountain" display, costing some $5 million to construct. The fountain was inspired by the more elaborate display at the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas and has been described as "Bellagio-esque.". [14]
Arizona Center was designed by The Rouse Company (on its festival marketplace model, which worked to great success in other cities) and opened in the fall of 1990 to great fanfare and high expectations, as it was considered one of the original components of the ongoing downtown revitalization efforts in Phoenix taking place since the early 1990s.
Metrocenter was a regional enclosed shopping mall in northwest Phoenix, Arizona.It was bounded by Interstate 17, 31st, Dunlap and Peoria Avenues.Before its closure, the three most recently open anchor stores were Harkins Theatres, Walmart Supercenter, and Dillard's Clearance Center; three additional vacant anchor stores included former Sears, JCPenney, and Macy's locations.
