Dysart Woods is the largest remaining tract of old growth forest in southeastern Ohio. It is located in the unglaciated Allegheny Plateau in Belmont County almost five miles (8 km) from the village of Belmont on Ohio State Route 147 .
ODNR owns and manages more than 640,000 acres (260,000 ha) of land, including 75 state parks, 23 state forests, 136 state nature preserves, and 150 wildlife areas. The department has jurisdiction over more than 61,500 mi (99,000 km) of inland rivers and streams, 451 mi (726 km) of the Ohio River , and 2.29 million acres (9,300 km 2 ) of Lake Erie .
The Trimble Community Forest or Trimble Township Community Forest is a 1,200-acre (4.9 km 2) forest preserve owned by the Appalachia Ohio Alliance, a land trust located in southeast Ohio. Formerly called Taylor Ridge, it was purchased in 2006 from the Sunday Creek Coal Company, and was formerly part of the Sunday Creek State Wildlife Area. [1]

Fox Lake Wildlife Area is a 421-acre (170 ha) Ohio state wildlife area in southeastern Waterloo Township in Athens County, Ohio. It is centered on 48-acre (19 ha) Fox Lake, which is generally oriented east–west, and which is located on Margaret Creek, a tributary of the Hocking River. The lake was impounded originally for flood control.
