As of the 2017-18 school year, the district, comprising nine schools, had an enrollment of 4,908 students and 398.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.3:1.

The six public elementary schools are Veterans Park, Branchville, Farmingville, Scotland, Barlow Mountain, and Ridgebury. Scotts Ridge Middle School (Ridgefield's newest school) and East Ridge are the town's two middle schools.
