Emmental District in the Canton of Bern was created on 1 January 2010. [1] It is part of the Emmental-Oberaargau administrative region. It contains 40 municipalities with an area of 690.45 km 2 (266.58 sq mi) and a population (as of 31 December 2020) of 97,666.
The principal settlements are the town of Burgdorf and the village of Langnau. Comprising Burgdorf, Trachselwald, and Signau districts in the canton of Bern, the Emmental became part of the Emmental-Oberaargau administrative region on 1 January 2010. The district of Fraubrunnen is divided between Emmental and Bern-Mittelland.
