Dover Plains is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population was 1,322 at the 2020 census. [2] [3] It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown Metropolitan Statistical Area. Dover Plains is in the northern part of the town of Dover on NY Route 22.
Between 1979 and 2003 it was also the home of the Dover Plains Library. [2] After the library moved out, the Dover Historical Society donated the building to the Town of Dover, which began a restoration that finished in 2006. Today it is used for some municipal government offices and as a local history museum. [2]
