The 2024 FIM Supercross World Championship was a supercross series sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) as the world championship of the sport. This was the third season that the championship was organized by Australian promoter SX Global.
Starting with the 2012 Season, riders who are in first place in the Series' Points Lead will use the red plate to race in the Series. Starting with the 2024 Season, the reigning champion from the SuperMotocross Championship in the 250cc & 450cc class, will use a purple plate with yellow numbers to signify their status as an SMX Champion.
Around 40 riders qualify for each Supercross round. Heat races and LCQs are used to bring the field down to 22 riders for a points-paying main event for each round. A main event is 20 minutes plus 1 lap for the 450 class and 15 minutes plus 1 lap for the 250 class. There is no 250 Supercross national champion like there is for motocross.
